New City Council Districts
Every 10 years the Kansas City Charter requires us to redraw the boundaries of our city council districts. A few months ago the council approved a new map with some substantial changes based on new US Census data. This new map will take effect at the polls on April 4, 2023.
Some of the bigger changes
The 1st and 2nd districts will be separated by an East/West boundary
The 6th district boundary shifts northward and will include the Country Club Plaza
The Ruskin area will be in the 5th district
The 4th district includes more of the Northland
Changes specific to the Fourth District
Several Northland neighborhoods will join the fourth including Sherwood Estates, Chaumiere, Davidson
The Country Club Plaza and UMKC will no longer be in the 4th
All neighborhoods south of Brush Creek will be in the 6th now
Scarritt will be split between the 3rd and the 4th districts with Monroe as the general boundary
East Blue Valley will join the 4th district
